| The categories involved in the transport of
perishable foodstuffs are highly specific. A clear grasp on
the vocabulary involved will spare you a number of misunderstandings
and demonstrate your professionalism to clients. |

Bodywork types |
| |
- Isothermal
This simply means the body has insulating walls that limit
heat exchanges. An insulation coefficient (K) decants the
bodies into one of two categories:
NI (Normal Insulation): K < 0.7 W. m2. K
RI (Reinforced Insulation): K < 0.4 W. m2. K
- Refrigerated
As well as insulating walls, these vehicles are equipped
with a mechanical cooling system. These fall into one of
three categories, A, B or C. Categories B and C involve
the use of RI (Reinforced Insulation) bodies.
- Cooling
As well as insulating walls, these vehicles are equipped
with a non-mechanical source of refrigeration (ice or eutectic
plates, for instance). Again, they fall into one of three
categories, A, B or C, and categories B and C involve the
use of RI (Reinforced Insulation) bodies.

Different types of transport |
| |
| These depend on the refrigerating capacity of
a given vehicle (gauged on an outside temperature of 30° C).
